It has come to our attention that there has been another organization using the name "DreamCatchers" in other states that has created a negative impact , especially in parts of California. We have had several people ask us about this and want to reassure everyone supporting us that we are most definitely not the same organization in any way, shape, or form! It saddens us that such people exist in this world, and more importantly, represent themselves as an animal rescue organization when so many are trying to legitimately help these animals.
Although DreamCatchers Equine Rescue LLC was established recently, Julie DeMuesy began rescuing and rehabilitating horses approximately 7 years ago. It was her dream to provide a safe haven for horses that needed care...the unwanted, lost souls that no one seemed to want. Learning their individual personalities and strengths, helping them to overcome their fears and pasts, and finding them their own special people that would truly love, understand, and appreciate their uniqueness has always been her goal. Julie has accomplished this goal beautifully over the years, maintaining a small herd of horses out of her own personal income, providing them with the love, care, understanding, and attention they so desperately needed, and finding loving homes for many of the horses lucky enough to have found their way to her. Through working with Teller County Animal Control, and later Park County Animal Control, Julie has earned a reputation for taking in the "hard cases" and has never turned away a horse in need, no matter the condition or ability to be adopted. Because of her reputation and success with horses, Park County Animal Control was referred to her as a reputable resource and a person who would provide the care these horses so desperately needed. Taking the horses from Park County more than doubled our small herd overnight, making it impossible to continue to provide for the large quantity of horses out of personal funds, so we have turned to our communities for support in providing for these wonderful animals. We work hard to provide them with the care they need and deserve, and with your continued support, will continue to do so.
We ask that people continue to support their local rescues, as these organizations are working very hard to save these wonderful animals, and should not be judged by the less than ethical actions of only a few. Horse rescue organizations are completely dependent on public support and continued consistent support provides funding for needed medical care, feed, hay, supplies, and help in maintaining adequate facilities for these amazing animals until pemanent homes can be found for them. If you have concerns, please visit the horse rescues in your area, meet the people involved, volunteer your time, and make a decision on which one you would like to become more involved with, but please do continue to support them!
